Bill Klein is the founder and principal of B2B Transitions.  He is a contract CFO specializing in small privately owned companies in the construction trades and real estate development.  He has more than 30 years professional experience ranging from start-ups, acquisitions, corporate governance and entity selection to estate planning, taxation, operations, project management, risk management, divestitures, equity exits, and dispute resolution in industry sectors that include professional services, real estate development, construction, manufacturing and commercial, residential and industrial real estate transactions and management.  His key success factors include his ability to develop and maintain relationships with owners, investors, lenders, CPAs, attorneys and other critical advisors. He is a process design and implementation expert with the courage to tell the hard truth.

Bill holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a law degree from Golden Gate University.

After studying electrical engineering at Virginia Tech, Bill worked aboard the US Navy’s ballistic missile submarines during the Vietnam Era.  After the Navy he attended law school at Golden Gate University where he was elected president of the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity and finished school a semester ahead of his classmates.  He promptly went into the real estate development business doing condo conversions.  Then with several colleagues, he formed a development company that ultimately conceived and obtained approval for the large residential community and championship golf course in Vallejo, California known as Hiddenbrooke.  After selling his interest to his partners he built a successful law firm handling real estate and construction transactions and litigation where he honed skills as both an advocate and arbitrator, and established new legal precedent in the United States federal court system in a case involving a commercial real estate transaction.  Wanting a taste of the corporate world and armed with a background in business organization, taxation, conflict resolution and a general distaste for litigation, Bill went back to school to obtain a Master of Business Administration in accounting.  While in business school he formed and became CEO of a residential remodeling company, which turned profitable the first year and doubled the second year.  After graduating from business school he sold his interest in that company and followed his fascination with the world of corporate finance and the language of business, accounting.  After gaining over fourteen years’ experience with the responsibilities of corporate controller and chief financial officer with private companies in the construction and real estate development industries, he decide to take his broad background and experience back into consulting and established William Klein Consulting, a firm specializing in accounting, finance and operations advisory services for construction trades and real estate developers in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Bill is now a partner at CFOs2GO a leading accounting and financial management consulting firm where he leads the Real Estate Development and Construction Practice group.
